LENOX, Mass. – Cate Welch scored a pair of goals Thursday to lead the Lenox girls soccer team to a Senior Night win over Lee.

Claire Welch set up her sister Cate for the game’s first goal. Senior Julia Zanin then set up Jane Elliot’s goal to give the Millionaires a 2-0 lead at half-time.

“During half time our girls talked about coming out with the same intensity and energy as when we started and it showed,” Lenox coach Nicole Gamberoni said.

Cate Welch converted an assist from Elliot, and Claire Welch got into the scoring column with an assist from Eva Brof in the second half.

“We are connecting through the midfield, our defense is doing an amazing job at stalling and making Audie Tresp’s job in goal that much easier,” Gamberoni said. “Audie also had an amazing game stepping up to make clearances and just becoming an amazing goalie. Our attack is coming along and I am so happy we are starting to take shots.”

Lenox (8-7-1) learns Friday who it will face in the quarter-finals of the Western Mass Class C Tournament.

Lee (12-3-1) is bound for the Western Mass Class D tourney.
