PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The rain poured from the opening kickoff, but the only Thunder on the field Friday came from Taconic, which rolled to a 40-0 victory over Chicopee Comp in a torrential downpour.

Taconic set the tone early and never looked back, scoring 32 points in the first half to put the game out of reach. With the weather making conditions difficult, the Thunder leaned heavily on their ground game, and Ka’Zahni Daniels led the charge with three rushing touchdowns in the first half.

Taconic’s offensive line played a key role in the dominant performance, consistently opening holes for Daniels and the rest of the running game.

“We did a really good job today, and our offensive line did a really good job blocking all game long,” Taconic head coach Brian Jezewski said. “Obviously, Kaz was great running the ball, but we had lots of guys do their part.”

The shutout marked another step forward for a Taconic team that has found its footing after a 1-2 start to the season. With back-to-back victories, the Thunder have climbed above .500 and are building momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

For Jezewski, the recent success reflects the team's continued growth and its commitment to establishing a stronger program culture.

“We’re getting better every day. It’s a tough process learning how to win, learning how to practice, learning how to do everything as a program together,” Jezewski said. “We’ve spent the entire season trying to change the culture and improve, and it’s one game and one practice at a time. We truly believe that we can get better and better as a program if we do it the right way.”

Taconic will look to extend its winning streak next weekend when it travels to Amherst.
