Claire Woods, 85, of 40 Sunset Ave. died Monday morning at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center. Born in New York City on Aug. 29, 1920, daughter of Edward and Charlotte Warren Streeter, she graduated from Chatham Hall School in Virginia in 1939 and received her bachelor of arts degree from Smith College in 1943. She also received a nursing degree from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Mrs. Woods was employed as a registered nurse at Brearley School in New York for more than 30 years, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed the arts. She leaves a daughter, Julie McCarthy of Stockbridge; a brother, Edward Streeter Jr. of New York; a sister, Charlotte Goodhue of New Hampshire, and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Claire Streeter Woods, who died Jan. 2, 2006, will be conducted Saturday at 1 at First Congregational Church of Stockbridge by the Rev. Stephen Bridges, pastor. Burial will be in the spring in Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, N.Y. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240. Mrs. Woods also leaves her granddaughter, Madeline McCarthy, and son-in-law, David F. McCarthy, both of Stockbridge. She was predeceased by her brother Warren Streeter. She was beloved by many nieces, nephews and friends for her humor, warmth and sense of fun.

Mrs. Claire Woods was one of my mother's very best friends. She was my godmother. I used to call her, " Aunt Mousie". I remember her delightful humor.
