Author to Discuss Connie Converse at North Adams Library

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The North Adams Public Library and MASS MoCA's Research & Development Store will host author Howard Fishman on Wednesday, April 9, at 6 p.m. Fishman will present and read from his book, "To Anyone Who Ever Asks," which details the life of singer-songwriter Connie Converse.
 
The event will take place in the library's 3rd-floor community room. Fishman's book chronicles Converse's life and musical career, incorporating research, travel, and interviews. Converse resided in North Adams at one point in her life.
 
Writer Anne Margaret Daniel will join Fishman for the presentation.
 
Copies of "To Anyone Who Ever Asks" will be available for purchase at the event. Pre-orders can be made through the MASS MoCA Research & Development Store website.
 
The North Adams Public Library is located at 74 Church Street, North Adams, MA 01247.

SteepleCats Fall in Extra Innings on Road

HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Nick Tomasetto hit an infield single to drive in a runner from third in the bottom of the 10th that gave the Valley Blue Sox a 2-1 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
 
The Blue Sox took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. But in the seventh inning, Alex Barrist drove in Nicolas LoBello, who had one of the SteepleCats' four hits.
 
Nolan Currier struck out four while allowing one run in five innings of work as North Adams' starter.
 
The SteepleCats (4-17) are in White River Junction, Vt., on Friday to play Upper Valley.
