DALTON, Mass. — Wahconah Regional High School will host a freshman orientation for the Class of 2029 on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 6:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. The event aims to provide parents and students with important information about the scheduling process and course offerings for ninth grade.
School administrators and staff will be present to discuss academic options and answer questions. Prior to the orientation, Wahconah students will offer building tours for parents from 5:45 to 6:20 p.m.
In case of inclement weather, the orientation will be rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 5.

County Residents Compete at Boston Marathon

BOSTON, Mass. -- Dalton's Alex White ran a time of 2 hours, 12 minutes, 3 seconds to lead the county's contingent at the Boston Marathon on Monday.
White, 24, placed 82nd overall with a mile pace of 5:23.
The 130th running of the marathon produced a course-record time of 2:01:52 by defending champion John Korir of Kenya.
His countrywoman Sharon Lokedi also defended her Boston title, hitting the tape in 2:18:51, 1:29 behind her own record-setting time from 2025.
Twenty Berkshire County residents were entered in the field of 30,000 expected to make the trek from Hopkinton to Boston.
Qwanell Bradley scored 33 points, and Adan Wicks added 29 as the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team won a Division 5 State Championship on Sunday. click for more
