Evelyn Julieano Gets 300th K in Win over Monument Mountain
LENOX, Mass. – Grace Julieano reached on a two-base error that scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, and Evelyn Julieano reached a major milestone Monday as the Lenox softball team earned a 3-0 win over Monument Mountain.
Evelyn Julieano struck out five hitters in four innings of work to pick up the 300th K of her varsity career.
The winning rally started when Cassidy Flynn worked a one-out walk. She moved into scoring position on a wild pitch before Evelyn Julieano reached on an error to put runners at the corners.
The error that allowed Grace Julieano to reach scored her sister and Flynn. Another error allowed the next Lenox hitter, Amaya Alger, to reach and allowed Grace Julieano to score to give the team some insurance.
Lenox collected just four hits. Flynn had two of them. Lilly MacDonald and Evelyn Julieano had the other two.
Evelyn Juliano and Flynn teamed up on a one-hit eight-strikeout performance in the circle to win a pitcher’s duel against the Spartans’ Andrea Paul.
Paul struck out seven and allowed no earned runs in taking the loss.
Lexi Carpenter had the lone hit for Monument Mountain.
The Spartans (3-5) host Wahconah on Wednesday.
Lenox (5-2) is at Taconic on Tuesday.
