Hoosac Valley Opens with Win at Franklin Tech
TURNERS FALLS, Mass. – Izabela Tart went 2-for-2 with a double Sunday to lead the Hoosac Valley softball team to a 7-4, season-opening win over Franklin Tech.
Tart drove in three runs – two on a double to center field in the top of the fifth to give the Hurricanes a 4-2 lead.
Hoosac Valley scored twice more in the inning on an RBI single by Harper Bialas and stretched its lead to 7-2 when Tart drove in Kendall Moran with a single in the top of the fifth.
Gianna Witek went 1-for-1 with a pair of walks and a run scored at the top of the Hurricane lineup.
Gracelyn Wright and Moran split time in the circle, striking out five and walking three.
Hoosac Valley (1-0) goes to Pittsfield on Tuesday.
