AMHERST, Mass. – Wahconah sophomore Mia Thomas recorded the 100th point of her career in her season debut as Wahconah blanked Amherst, 15-0, on Monday afternoon.

The 10th-grader reached the 100-point mark, appropriately, with a goal assisted by her twin sister Brooke.

“It was a much deserved milestone,” Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. “She is a solid presence on the field and has earned the points with hard work and grit.”

Mia Thomas went on to score five goals and set up two more in the blowout win.

Brooke Harrington had a hat trick, and Danielle Hagmaier collected two goals and four assists.

Olivia Johnson and Anna Doyle each scored twice, and Brooke Thomas ended up with two assists.

“The team moved the ball well and had some very nice finishes,” Budaj said. “The defense played well in front of Mya [Lee] who had a great game.”

Lee made eight saves to earn the shutout in goal.

Wahconah (1-0) is at South Hadley on Thursday.
