Kristensen Clutch as Mount Greylock Downs Lenox
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Eli Kristensen went 4-for-4 with a triple and a double Wednesday to lead the Mount Greylock baseball team to a 10-5 win over Lenox.
Kristensen scored three times for the Mounties, who got two RBIs apiece from Jaden Wells-Vidal and Andrew Holland, a ninth-grader who recorded his first varsity hit and drove in a pair.
Emery Rotter went the distance on the mound to earn the win, striking out three and allowing four earned runs as the Mounties avenged a loss in Lenox.
“One week ago we were on the wrong end of a five-inning rule game versus Lenox, but that’s why baseball is the best sport ever,” Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “Another day, another opportunity. Our guys answered the bell.
“It started with our Starter Emery, who threw 60% strikes. He had control from the beginning.. and he had some great defensive plays behind him. Nothing bigger than when our catcher Owen [KoaMaya] on a pitch in the dirt threw a dime to second to get [David] Kirchner stealing, which set the tone for us. Owen has a great future and is really progressing with his catching daily. He also got his first varsity hit and an RBI.”
Mason Daley went 3-for-4 and Robbie Bazinet had a pair of doubles to lead Lenox’s offense.
The Millionaires (4-6) hosts Northampton on Tuesday.
Mount Greylock (4-5) is home against Easthampton on Tuesday.
