Pittsfield Pounds Putnam Voc

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Cam Hillard and Brenden Merwin combined on a five-inning, one-hit performance on the mound Monday as the Pittsfield baseball team beat Putnam Vocational, 17-0, on Buddy Pellerin Field at Clapp Park.

 

Hillard struck out eight in three innings of work before giving the ball to Merwin, who struck out five.

 

Jason Fields went 2-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Generals offensively.

 

Konnor Dugan was 2-for-3 at the plate. Ryan Stannard doubled and drove in three runs, and Sam Gyurjan had a double and a pair of RBIs.

 

Pittsfield (3-1) is at West Springfield on Wednesday.
