Apotsos Dominant in Mount Greylock Wins

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Rowan Apotsos won four events Friday to lead the Mount Greylock girls track and field team to a pair of wins over Monument Mountain in a three-team meet.

 

On the track, Apotsos won the 100- and 200-meter dashes. In the field, she took first in the long jump and the triple jump.

 

Mount Greylock’s Madelyn Gaudreau was a double winner, sweeping the 100 and 400 hurdles.

 

Monument Mountain’s Amelia Desilets (3200 meters), Mabel Cooney (400) and Arabella Calautti (high jump) each earned a first-place finish to lead the Spartans past the Thunder.

 

The closest team competition of the day came in the boys meet, where Taconic edged Monument Mountain, 69-64, behind first-place showings from Romeo Yankey in the 200 and the team’s 4-by-800 relay quartet.

 

Mount Greylock’s boys cruised to a pair of dual meet wins.

 

Patrick Holland and Ward Bianchi led the way. Holland won the 800 meters and the mile. Bianchi took first in the shot put and the javelin.

 

Although Monument Mountain’s boys came out on the short end of both team competitions, the Spartans’ Siddy Culbreth swept the long jump and triple jump.
