This week's iBerkshires.com/Bedard Bros. Athletes of the Week have helped keep their respective teams among a dwindling list of unbeaten squads in the county as we head to the third week of the spring season.

Emma LeMire has been a force in the circle and at the plate for the McCann Tech softball team this spring.

She is hitting a healthy .333 with four runs batted in on 12 at-bats (second most on the team).

And, as a pitcher, she is yet to allow an earned run in 11 innings of work, striking out 17 while walking just one.

On Wednesday, she struck out 10 in a shutout win over Mount Everett. Two days later, LeMire doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh in a 13-12 win over Pioneer Valley Regional.

McCann Tech (3-0) goes on the road three times this week, starting with a showdown at city rival Drury on Monday.

The Mount Greylock boys tennis team, also 3-0, also has three matches coming up this week, starting with a Monday road trip to Monument Mountain.

The Mounties on Friday survived one of their biggest tests of the season when they earned a 3-2 win over reigning Western Massachusetts Class C Champion Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School.

At No. 1 singles, Mount Greylock's Tate Carothers defeated the Dragons' returning ace, 6-3, 6-1, to provide the match clinching point on Williams College's courts.

Carothers who started his career as a seventh-grader playing first singles, returned to the high school varsity team this spring as a sophomore.

In three matches, he has dropped just six games in earning three straight-set wins.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Bedard Bros.
