Steinerfilm closing this summer

The Williamstown metallized plastic film manufacturer will close this summer after more than 50 years of operation at the end of June, leaving 34 people unemployed. They are currently working to connect employees with new jobs and resources, and will transition its customers to German sister company Steiner Film GmbH.

A new North Adams restaurant is on its way

Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee.

A Boutique Hotel is Bringing Guests a Luxury Stay in Lenox

Owners Sullivan Capital LLC purchased the property, located on 135 Main St., in 2024. After a year or renovations, Garden Gables Inn is open for business. 

Former Harry's Supermarket is becoming a restaurant

Construction is underway to transform the former Harry's Supermarket in Pittsfield into a restaurant. A fire gutted the longtime Wahconah Street supermarket in 2023, and the following year, it was purchased for $460,000 with the intent to build a hibachi restaurant in the existing footprint of the more than 100-year-old building. 

Hewison Aviation hosting grand opening at Harriman & West Airport

Hewison Aviation is hosting an open house Thursday, June 25, to celebrate the opening of its new facility at Harriman & West Airport in North Adams. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the school's flight instructors, tour the facility, and explore an aircraft, and try interactive experiences.

January to March residential sales that fell slightly while dollar volume rose.

  • Northern Berkshire: Residential sales decreased by 11 percent; dollar volume fell by 27 percent.

  • Central Berkshire: Residential sales decreased by 8 percent; dollar volume decreased by 2 percent.

  • Southern Berkshire: Residential sales increased by 9 percent; dollar volume increased by 45 percent.
