We spoke with the current owners and the listing agents, Tracy Crawford and Molly Gillon of the Berkshire Property Agents Team at Compass.

What do you think makes this listing stand out in the current market?
Located near the end of a quiet dead-end street, this home enjoys picturesque, year-round views of protected state-owned land, offering a level of privacy that's increasingly hard to find. With its spacious layout, extensive updates, beautiful landscaping, and a legacy spanning generations, this rare Southeast Pittsfield gem offers not just a house, but a home filled with character.

What kind of buyer do you see this home being perfect for?
This home is perfect for anyone who appreciates classic colonial charm paired with thoughtful modern updates. With major improvements already completed, all that's left to do is move in and enjoy.

What would you say to a buyer trying to imagine their life in this space?
Imagine enjoying your morning coffee on the screened porch while listening to the birds, hosting family and friends in the spacious dining room, and gathering around the wood-burning fireplace on cool evenings. Take a walk through the quiet neighborhood or explore the scenic trails at Canoe Meadows, then head into downtown Pittsfield for shopping, dining, and the theater. Located in the heart of the Berkshires, with Tanglewood just minutes away, this is a place where you can enjoy the best of Berkshire living every day.

How would you describe the feel and atmosphere of the home?
Warm, welcoming, and timeless. Sunlight fills the living spaces, while the thoughtful floor plan creates a comfortable flow from room to room. It's the kind of home that feels inviting the moment you walk through the door.

Are there any standout design features and/or recent renovations?
One of the home's most distinctive design features is the living room fireplace, accented by beautiful South African tiles brought back by the original owner, Dr. Dorman, Pittsfield's only obstetrician in the 1950s. Recent major improvements include a new roof, central air conditioning, a newer furnace, a replaced sewer line, newer appliances, and a freshly painted exterior, giving buyers confidence that the major work has already been completed.

Do you know any unique stories or history of the home?
What truly sets this property apart is its remarkable history. Lovingly cared for by only three owners, it has been the setting for generations of cherished memories. Over the decades, two families each raised large families here, including twins. Every winter, the back yard became the neighborhood's favorite skating rink for pickup hockey games, while the basement served as a beloved playroom for countless childhood adventures.

What do you love most about the home?
What I love most is the peaceful setting and professionally landscaped grounds. A third-generation bed of peonies lines the driveway, Limelight hydrangeas provide spectacular blooms from late summer into fall, classic snowball hydrangeas flourish in the backyard, and a neighboring apple orchard still produces fruit each autumn for homemade Thanksgiving pies. It's a property that's been lovingly cared for over generations, and that pride of ownership is evident both inside and out.

Berkshire County Sheriff's Office Warns Public of Phone Scam

PITTSFIELD, Mass. —Berkshire County Sheriff Thomas Bowler is warning members of the community about an ongoing phone scam involving individuals falsely claiming to be employees of, or affiliated with, the Berkshire County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office has received an increased number of calls from community members reporting that they were contacted by someone claiming to be a member of the Sheriff's Office from numbers with 413 area codes that sometimes show up on a caller ID as Berkshire County Sheriff's Department. During these calls, the caller claims the resident owes money for various reasons and attempts to collect payment. Scammers may request money orders, cashier checks, gift cards, or other items. Sometimes scammers will say a courier will come to a house to pick up the item or will request that account or gift card information be read over the phone.

The Berkshire County Sheriff's Office will never call a community member to demand or collect payment, request gift cards, or ask for. The Berkshire County Sheriff's Office will never send a courier to a resident's house. Residents should not assume a call is legitimate simply because the Sheriff's Office number appears on their caller ID.

Residents should not assume a call is legitimate simply because the Sheriff's Office number appears on their caller ID. The scammers are also spoofing the Berkshire County Sheriff's Office phone number, causing the legitimate number to appear on the recipient's caller ID in an effort to make the call appear authentic. Spoofing is when a scammer disguises a phone number, email address, or website to look like someone they know or a trusted agency's number.

"Scammers use fear, urgency, and the credibility of law enforcement to convince people that their demands are legitimate," said Sheriff Thomas Bowler. "If you receive a call like this, hang up. Do not provide personal or financial information, and do not send or transfer money."

Residents who receive a suspicious call should independently contact the Berkshire County Sheriff's Office at (413) 443-7220 to verify whether the call was legitimate. Do not use a phone number provided by the caller to verify their identity.

Sheriff Bowler urges residents to share this information with family members, friends, and neighbors, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.
