Art In The Berkshires Presents Two Community Fall Exhibitions

Print Story | Email Story

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Art in the Berkshires Gallery will present two concurrent exhibitions this fall: "As I See It" and "KATUNEMO's Love IS Resistance."

"As I See It" brings together six artists whose work reflects distinct ways of seeing, interpreting, and responding to the world. Featuring Larry Frankel, Michael Beuth, Rachel Kaufmann, Mollie Kellogg, Ray Warner, and Marc Simmons, the exhibition considers how observation is shaped by memory, experience, attention, and personal perspective.

"As I See It" will be on view Sept. 11–Oct. 18, 2026. A public reception will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Saturday Morning Gallery Talks will take place Oct. 3 and Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Beginning Sept. 18, Art in the Berkshires will also host "KATUNEMO Art & Healing's Love IS Resistance" in the Creative Studio and front bay window. Presented in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the community exhibition explores art as an expression of cultural identity, healing, connection, and resistance. It will remain on view through Oct. 18, with a public reception during gallery hours on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. The Festival Latino of the Berkshires will also take place on September 26 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., behind the Town Hall at Green Park and Saint James Place on Main Street in Great Barrington. The art show, the reception,  and the Festival Latino are free to the public.

"I am thrilled to partner with KATUNEMO to present Love IS Resistance during Hispanic Heritage Month," said Shany Porras, founder and director of Art in the Berkshires. "As a Venezuelan immigrant, this collaboration is especially meaningful to me. At a time when we are preparing to vote and make our voices heard, I am proud to help create space for local artists to share their experiences, identities, and perspectives with the wider community."

Art in the Berkshires Gallery + Creative Studio is located at 8 Castle Street in downtown Great Barrington. For exhibition information and gallery hours, visit artintheberkshires.com.

Units Available at Lee's New Eagle Mill Housing Development

By Brittany PolitoiBerkshires Staff

It's took more than a decade to bring the Eagle Lofts to fruition in the former Eagle mill.

LEE, Mass. — Hearthway wants community members to know there are three-bedroom units available at The Lofts at Eagle Mill with little to no waitlist.

The apartments at 73 West Center St. recently came online in the historic building on the banks of the Housatonic River after more than a decade of work. The first tenants began moving in last week.

Three-bedroom units are less than $2,000 per month for those who meet income requirements.

"These units are $1,855 a month with hot water included. To qualify, applicants must be under the 60 percent AMI income limit by household size and be able to afford the rent," the affordable housing provider wrote in a communication on Monday.

"Mobile vouchers are welcomed."

A ribbon was cut at the former paper mill over the summer for 56 one- to three-bedroom, mixed-income units in the heart of downtown.

According to a chart provided by Hearthway, 60 percent area median income is $55,320 per year for a one person household, $63,240 a year for a two-person household, $71,160 a year for a three-person household, and $79,020 a year for a four-person household.

Applications are available in English and Spanish. They can submitted via email to leasing@hearthway.org, drop off to the main office at 1 Fenn St in Pittsfield, fax to 413-403-2710, or USPS mail to P.O. Box 1180, Pittsfield, MA 01202-1180.
