Fairview Rehabilitation Department Offers Balance and Mobility Program
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Fairview Hospital and Berkshire South will offer "Balance and Mobility," a free, four-part health education program designed to help older adults maintain strength, mobility, and independence.
The program will be held at Berkshire South, 10 Crissey Road, Great Barrington, on four consecutive Wednesdays—Oct. 7, 14, 21, and 28—from 11 a.m. to noon. Participants must commit to attending all four sessions.
Falls are among the leading causes of hospitalization for older adults. Each session will focus on an aspect of mobility and provide practical strategies and exercises to help participants improve strength, balance, and fall prevention.
"Our goal is to provide practical tools and information that people can use every day to help prevent falls and reduce the risk of fall-related injuries," said Victoria Guy, PT, DPT, Administrative Director of Rehabilitation.
The program will be taught by the rehabilitation team that provides inpatient services at Fairview Hospital as well as at Fairview Outpatient Rehabilitation at 10 Maple Avenue in Great Barrington and Fairview Physical and Sports Therapy at 710 Stockbridge Road in Lee.
