Dalton-Hinsdale 10-Year-Olds Reach County Title Series
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Cooper Kennedy and Blake Preston each drove in a run in the top of the seventh, and the Dalton-Hinsdale Little League 10-and-under All-Stars held on for a 6-5 win over Adams-Cheshire in the District 1 Tournament at Deming Park.
Dalton-Hinsdale advances to Friday’s 5:30 p.m. Championship Game a best-of-three Championship Series that begins Thursday at Deming against Pittsfield, which went 2-0 in the three-team round robin.
Jayson Haskins was placed on second base to start extra innings for DH. He moved to third on Callen Bradley’s sacrifice bunt.
Kennedy followed with a single to left field to make it 5-4.
He then scored on Preston’s RBI double to give Dalton-Hinsdale a two-run cushion.
It needed the extra run.
In the bottom of the inning, Adams-Cheshire cashed in the “ghost runner” when Roman Rochelo singled to left with one out to bring home Oliver Singer, making it 6-4.
Rochelo was out trying to stretch the single into a double, but Adams-Cheshire’s Max Pizani worked a walk to put the tying run on base with two out.
Murphy Duquette secured the final out for Dalton-Hinsdale with his fourth strikeout in 2 and two-thirds innings on the mound.
Camden Duma had the start for DH, also striking out four in 4 and a third innings.
Joey Milesi and Hudson Ziter split time on the mound for AC, striking out 11 and allowing three earned runs.
Sebastian Superneau led Adams-Cheshire’s offense, going 2-for-2 with a double and a pair of RBIs.
Finlay Sorti was 2-for-3 at the plate for Dalton-Hinsdale, which got three RBIs from Duquette.
