ARLINGTON, Vt. — There is a sweet feline awaiting her new family at Second Chance Animal Shelter.

iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.

Bella is a 13-year-old calico who has been at the shelter for a couple months.

Feline program administrator Santana Snyder introduced us to her.

"Bella came to us because her previous owner sadly passed away. A family member did take her into the home and tried to keep her but they had other pets, and Bella was not a big fan of the other pets," she said.

Bella likes to meet new people and get belly rubs.

"She is very sweet, very docile. Loves people would just do really well in a home where people are around a lot, but wouldn't mind being alone for small periods of time as well. I think she would eventually be like a lab cat or a sit on the couch cat with you. She just loves to be around people," Snyder said, "She loves greeting people at the door. She's a little bit talkative here and there, but not a very vocal kitty. She is a little bit playful, but for the most part, pretty, pretty mellow girl, people watching.

"I think she would really like a window where she can watch the birds and the squirrels, and outside, she is an indoor only cat right now, and was in her previous home as well."

Bella would like to be the only pet in the home and would prefer a nice window to watch out of and lounge at during her golden years.

"She really would love to be the center of her attention for her people, maybe an older couple. Since she is an older gal, I think she would like somebody that's home a lot and that she can just chill on the couch with. I think she'd be a good couch potato," Snyder said. "Kids are OK, like maybe grandkids visiting every now and then. She wouldn't mind. She's pretty tolerant of children."

Bella is very healthy but you may notice some bumps on her face but it is nothing to be worried about.

"She's very healthy. We do have her on a little bit of a sensitive stomach diet. But other than that, healthy, you may notice she's got some bumps on her face, which are just little cysts that are benign, and due to her age, it would just be a little bit more problematic to take them off in the healing process than to just leave them be if they're not bothering her."

Bella also loves to play with string toys and anything else you might have. She is ready to show someone her love and find a new home.

"She really is a great cat. I think anybody would be really lucky to have this mellow girl," Snyder said. "She's very she's got a personality, a very good personality."

If you think Bella might be the cat for you, reach out to Second Chance Animal Shelter and learn more about her on the website.
