Comedy Event to Benefit Local Veteran After House Fire

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — A comedy benefit will be held Saturday, April 11, at The Venue at Skyline to support a local Army veteran and his family following the loss of their home in a fire.

The event, produced by FunnyRaising Comedy Shows, features a lineup of professional stand-up comedians. Headliner Darren Rivera will be joined by Roddy Thomas, with show producer and founder Jess Miller serving as the host.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit Michael Andrews and his two children. According to event organizers, the family has been residing in an RV throughout the winter months after their residence was destroyed.

Organizers stated that every ticket sold contributes directly to the family's efforts to rebuild. The event is designed to combine professional entertainment with community-driven financial support for the Andrews family.

Pittsfield Wins County Youth Football Crown in Dramatic Fashion

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Jaziah Grandson raced 48 yards as time expired to score the winning touchdown as the Pittsfield Bulldogs Saturday beat Lanesborough, 20-14, in the championship game of the Berkshire County Youth Football League's Senior Division.

Grandson scored all three Pittsfield touchdowns in its come-from-behind victory at Berkshire Community College.

Earlier in the day, Dalton beat Adams-Cheshire, 22-6, in the title game of the Junior Division.

Grandson scored on a 58-yard run on fourth-and-10 near midfield with 7 minutes, 25 seconds left to play. Maxton Powell's two-point conversion tied the game at 14-14.

Lanesborough recovered the ensuing kickoff and drove to the Pittsfield 20 in the final minute.

Troy Maloy, who ran for a game-high 174 yards, carried the ball seven times for 48 yards in the final possession as the Tigers overcame two holding calls to get into the red zone with 24 seconds on the clock.

But on second-and 23 from the 25, Lanesborough fumbled, and Powell recovered for the Bulldogs at their 27 with 15 seconds left to play.
