The St. Patrick's Day parade features marching bands and floats.

Hoosick Falls St. Patrick's Parade & Festival
Hoosick Armory, N.Y.
Time: noon

The 35th annual Irish Festival starts off with a parade from Wood Memorial Park and around the downtown with more than 40 units, including the Taconic Pipe Band and the Fifes and Drums of Olde Saratoga, and concludes with food and brew at the armory with the Burns Moore Bridge band and Hubbard Hall's Irish Dance Class.

Other businesses, taverns and restaurants will also be celebrating with a pub crawl, corned beef and cabbage at the Hoosick Falls Country Club, Reubens at the Society of St. Stanislaw, and outdoor grilling at the Sand Bar.

Glow for a Cause
North Adams Elks Hall
Time: Saturday, 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Glow at a blacklight party with DJ Kane and DJ R.P. Express. Includes 50/50 raffle, charcuterie buffet, a glowing chocolate fountain, cotton candy, and pizza. Highlighters, glow sticks and other glow items available.

Berkshire Botanical Bulb Show
Feb. 20 to March 20

The Fitzpatrick Greenhouse at Berkshire Botanical Garden in Stockbridge is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to welcome the new season amongst hundreds of flowering bulbs.

'Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka'
Hoosac Valley High School
Friday through Saturday

This is a musical adaptation of Dahl's "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" staged by the high school's theater group. Bring the family or friends to enjoy the childhood story come to life.

Tea and Talk: Behind Closed Doors of Berkshire Cottages

Local historian and author Cornelia Brooke Gilder will share from her book "The Houses of the Berkshires," about country houses in Lenox. A tea will follow.

'Luminous Deep'

Dance on the bottom of the ocean floor in this blacklight installation at 43 Eagle St. Mix of DJs and music, and snacks and drinks. Feel free to bring some to share.

'Dark Side of the Moon'

Tribute band Beyond The Wall delivers a Pink Floyd experience for one night only, peforming the band's signature album "Dark Side of the Moon" and other Pink Floyd classics.

The Gilded Age Mansion hosts a tour with "Ghosts of the Berkshires" author Robert Oakes, who will lead guests through the rooms and halls of the estate, sharing tales of its hauntings.

North Adams Library Friends Receive $25K Bequest From Late Paul Gaudreau

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Friends of the North Adams Public Library was gifted $25,000 by the late Paul Gaudreau.

The Drury High graduate had great respect for the library and its service to the city, said his good friend Richard Taskin, and had entrusted him with the check before his death on Sunday at the age of 64.

"He understands the importance of the library as a crown jewel of our city. And he loved this city and he loved this country," said Taskin, a library trustee. "He was in the National Guard. He was concerned about his city. He was concerned about his country. ...

"He read a newspaper every single day of his life and cared about public affairs."

Taskin presented the check to Friends President Bonnie Rennell on Thursday evening at the end of the trustees' meeting.

Gaudreau was a youth sports coach, and had retired from Williams College. He had already donated CDs to the library and had enjoyed seeing Jeff Tweedy of Wilco perform at the library. Taskin said Gaudreau was one of the hardest working people he'd ever known and, his voice breaking, his fantasy baseball partner.

He'd first passed the check to Chair Sarah Farnsworth, who gasped "oh my" when she read the amount.
