Bond's 44 Leads Drury in Sweet 16 Win
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Jorge Bond exploded for 44 points on Wednesday to lead the Drury boys basketball team to a 94-58 win over Avon in the Division 5 State Tournament Sweet 16.
Bond hit two of his five 3-pointers and scored 19 points in the first quarter, when the Blue Devils jumped out to a 23-9 lead.
Shane Faucher and Connor Hinkell each finished in double figures for Drury, scoring 18 and 16 points, respectively.
Top-seeded Drury (21-2) takes a 13-game winning streak into Saturday’s state quarter-final game against Hoosac Valley at 4 p.m.
The eighth-seeded Hurricanes advanced on Wednesday night with a 66-48 win over Ware.
