Taconic Outbattles Monument Mountain

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Charley Driscoll shared medalist honors Thursday and led the Taconic golf team to a 153-154 win over Monument Mountain on the front nine at Berkshire Hills Country Club.
 
Driscoll recorded one of the Thunder’s three birdies, breaking par on the par-4 eighth hole on his way to a 36.
 
Monument Mountain’s Luke Fenig also finished at 36 after birdying the par-5 second hole.
 
“We did a great job today protecting our home course,” Taconic coach Matt Capeless said. “153 is our lowest on the season. We tip our caps to Monument who played great today as well. They had three players under 40 today.”
 
Taconic had three players in the 30s for the first time this season.
 
Ethan Bishop and Brodi McCormack were two of four Taconic players to match or beat his career record for a round in competition. Each birdied the second hole on the way to a 37.
 
Monument Mountain matched Taconic with three birdies on the day.
 
In addition to Fenig, Luke Naventi birdied No. 8 and finished at 38. Conor Casey birdied the par-4 sixth hole and factored into the Spartans’ scoring with a 41.
 
Monument Mountain plays Mount Everett on Monday at Wyantenuck.
 
Taconic (4-8) is at Lee on Monday.
