Spartans Edge Pittsfield, 1-0

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Sadie Raifstanger scored with 21 seconds left in the first half, and the Monument Mountain girls soccer team Thursday went on to a 1-0 win over Pittsfield.

Violet Camarra won a loose ball and broke out of the midfield before sending the ball to Raifstanger on the left wing. Raifstanger then finished for her fifth goal in two games.

“The game was a tough battle by both teams, with neither team getting many clear chances,” Monument Mountain coach Sean Flynn said. “Ani Hocker played an excellent game in goal, and I was very pleased by the defensive performance by the entire team.”

Monument Mountain (4-6) hosts Wahconah on Saturday.

Pittsfield (6-6) is at BCC to play Taconic on Saturday evening.
