Paula Houghton, 73
Paula Marie (England) Houghton, 73 of Readsboro, VT. died Thursday April 30, 2026 at Berkshire Medical Center.
She was born in North Adams on December 8, 1952, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth (Cooper) England. Paula graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1970.
Paula was employed at Hunter Outdoor Products and then as a department manager for Zayre Department Store in North Adams and later as store manager at Central Radio in North Adams. She was last employed as an insurance agent for Thompson & Linscott Insurance Co. in Adams.
Paula was an active member of the Readsboro American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed cruising the backroads with Barry in their free time. She also loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her longtime companion Barry Howes with whom she made her home, sons James Barrett (Shealee Cooke) of North Adams, John Barrett (Sara) of Pittsfield, her grandchildren Ty, Hayden, Madilene, Jackson, Shealee’s children, Reid and Claire and sister Diane England of North Adams. Barry’s children, Justin Howes (Alice), Bart Howes (Kaci), Jamie Howes (David Clayton) and their children Dillon, Ethan, and Alexandra. Several nieces and nephews as well as brothers Gordon and Zane England.
Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. are Thursday May 7, 2026 from 4PM to 7PM with a service to follow.
