Letter: John Barrett Is the Only Choice

Letter to the EditorPrint Story | Email Story

To the Editor:

Rep. John Barrett III is the only choice!

I have had the pleasure of knowing Representative Barrett for upwards of 30 years. In that time it was evident that he was first committed to the City of North Adams, which spoke volumes through everything he brought to the table and brokering the MoCA deal was, while monumental, only begins to mention his accomplishments.

County Commissioner: four years
McCann Technical School representative: eight years
Mayor for the City of North Adams: 26 years
State representative for the First Berkshire District: nine years

This tremendous history of dedication to our district speaks volumes of what John Barrett III has done for us. He is ever cognizant of each and every moving part in our district and doesn't preach about what he wants to do in our district, his record is the only proof our district needs to ensure we move forward in the future.

He is a very personable and reachable man whose heart has and always will be on the forefront not only for North Adams but the First Berkshire District. He is not afraid to ruffle feathers at the State House to ensure the best interests of his district are met. John Barrett III always puts others and the betterment of his district before himself. A vote for John Barrett III is a vote to ensure or district will be represented by the best possible person!

NAFD/NAPD Advances to Finals of Women's Softball League

By Stephen DravisiBerkshires.com Sports
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Anna Dix Thursday went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of runs batted in to lead North Adams Fire Department/North Adams Police Department to a 14-9 win over Alternative Living Centers and a berth in the North Adams Women’s Softball League Championship Game.

Abby Lear was 3-for-5 with a double for the first responders, who survived the losers bracket in the double-elimination tournament and will face Belle Ame Lashes on Monday at 6 p.m. at DiSanti Field in the first game of the title round.

A win for NAFD/NAPD on Monday will force a winner-take-all game; Lashes is just one win from the championship.

On Thursday, NAFD/NAPD jumped on top early with an eight-run top of the first and never looked back.

Kalley Vanuni singled up the middle, and Lear doubled to left to bring home the game’s first run.

Heather Morris and Carrie Brassard each singled to keep the rally going, and Dix and Kenzie Dobbert delivered two-out hits before each scored on an outfield error to make it 8-0.

ALC managed just one run against Dobbert in the circle through the first three innings.
