Thomas J. Aliberti, 65

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. —  Thomas J Aliberti, 65 of Williamstown, MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He faced his illness with the same humor, strength, discipline, and resilience that defined his life. Through kindness and compassion, Tom lived every day guided by his faith.

Originally from Medford, MA, Tom graduated from Medford High School, Class of 1979, and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology. His career over the years blended his professional experience in Construction and his hobby of computers. He owned his own construction company for many years with pride and quality workmanship. He has been employed by Williams College for almost 14 years as the Facilities Technology Specialist.

In late 2012, Tom and family moved to the Berkshires, the quieter side of Massachusetts, and enjoyed a more relaxed pace of life. However, the community and friendships established in Medford, and especially in Thursday night bocce at the Medford Boat Club, remained close to his heart.

Tom showed his love to others through countless acts of service. He devoted his time and expertise to enriching the lives of family and friends around him - from beautiful stonework to backyard ice rinks for his kids.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of hard work, curiosity, and love for his family. He is survived by his devoted mother, Mary Aliberti. He will be missed by his beloved wife and best friend, Cathy (Kelly) Aliberti, married just shy of 30 years. He loved and was so proud of his children: Kevin, Lauren, Kristen, and Patrick. Cherished by his siblings, Tony (Connie), Jack (Joy), Jim (Fabienne), Katherine (Mark), and Billy. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Richard, and brother, Ricky.

Per Tom’s wishes, there will be no services. His hope is for you to think about a fun memory with him that makes you smile. Whether you called him Tom, Thomas, or Snook, please know he loved and appreciated you. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pop Cares, PO Box 482, Williamstown, MA 01267. I was very saddened to hear of Tom’s passing. I had the opportunity to work with him on a project at Williams a few years ago. He was always courteous, helpful and patient with his time. May his memory be a blessing to his family and all who knew him.

I just heard of Toms passing from here in Cambodia. We texted eack other recently after connecting again on FB and he never mentioned any health concerns. I am deeply saddened to hear this. The O'Flaherty brothers grew up with the Aliberti brothers at Webster Park in Medford so we all knew each other very well. We all called him Snook back in the day. My brother Cathal and I took him to Mike's Gym around 1982 to lift weights and he sprouted muscles so quickly we were all shocked. As often happens in life, we all went our own ways to ive our lives but one thing will always remain: the memories you have from growing up might fade, but they are never forgotten. Thomas, rest easy my friend, you will never be forgotten. Dominic
