CINEMA OF LAW: DEGENERATE ART
Pittsfield

Free film shown at the Berkshire Athenaeum in Pittsfield, in association with the Berkshire Law Library.  Part of the "Cinema of  Law" series shown Monday nights in March. This is a documentary film (1993) about the "Degenerate Art Exhibition" of 1937 in Germany, where the Nazi regime suppressed modern art and associated it with insanity, communism, and degenerate races.

CLARK ART HITCHCOCK FILM SERIES: "REAR WINDOW"
Williamstown, 6 pm

The Clark Art Institute screens a series of films directed by Alfred Hitchcock. A presentation and talkback with film scholar Will Schmenner, head of public programs, follows each screening. All film screenings are free and take place in the Manton Research Center auditorium. Accessible seats available.

FILM: THE MAN WITHOUT A WORLD WITH LIVE ORIGINAL MUSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT
Amherst, 7:00pm

In person at the Yiddish Book Center 

Restoration funding was provided by the Sunrise Foundation for Education and the Arts, and a new score was composed and recorded by Alicia Svigals (violin) and Donald Sosin (piano).

Sosin and Svigals will perform live with the film. Since 2018 they have been delighting audiences throughout the United States and Europe with their stirring violin and piano scores for Jewish-themed silent films.

Silent Film, 98 minutes, English Intertitles, 1991

Sosin is one of the world’s top silent film musicians, and Svigals is the world’s leading klezmer violinist and a founder of the Grammy-winning Klezmatics.

CINEMA OF LAW: HITLER'S COURTS, & NAZI LAW: LEGALLY BLIND
Pittsfield, 6:00 PM

Free film shown at the Berkshire Athenaeum in Pittsfield, in association with the Berkshire Law Library.  Part of the "Cinema of  Law" series shown Monday nights in March. This evening we will screen two films about how Germany's legal system was transformed into a tool of oppression by under Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. The films are Hitler's Courts: Betrayal of the Law in Nazi Germany (2006, 35 minutes), and Nazi Law: Legally Blind (2016).

"DARK WATERS" FILM SCREENING AND Q&A
North Adams, 6 pm

The Hoosic River Watershed Association will host a free screening of the film "Dark Waters," which chronicles the legal battle against chemical pollution from PFAS. Following the screening, environmental public health scientist Rye Howard will lead a Q&A session regarding toxicology and the impacts of these substances. Attendees are requested to register in advance at HooRWA.org to assist with logistical planning and refreshments.
