In partnership with The Mount, the Norman Rockwell Museum presents the Jazz Age Novel, a literary program organized in conjunction with the exhibition Jazz Age Illustration.
Each program will begin with a short talk about the author and the featured novel followed by dramatic reading of select passages by an actor or actors.

On Zoom. The iconic Jewish appetizer shop Russ & Daughter’s is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Join Niki Russ Federman and Josh Russ Tupper, fourth-generation owners and authors of Russ & Daughters: 100 Years of Appetizing. Drawing inspiration from the book, they will share the rich history of the shop through family anecdotes and characters on both sides of the counter. They will also share stories of Russ & Daughter’s most famed offerings.

Local artist and author Gail Gelburd will discuss her biographical fiction novel inspired by the rediscovered letters and archives of the adventurous 20th-century figure Sue Moody. The presentation explores Moody’s extraordinary life, from hitchhiking across America to surviving the outbreak of WWII in Paris as an aspiring journalist. A reception and book signing with the author will follow the reading and discussion at the Town Hall.

The graphic novel, El Iluminado, tells the story of a secret history of religion in the Americas, showing how thousands of European refugees have left a trail of ghostly footprints—and troves of mysteries—across the American Southwest. Author and cultural critic Ilan Stavans will talk about the book and the newly released paperback edition, which includes a new afterword recounting the amazing events that occurred after the original publication, including the real-life discovery of the long-lost memoir of Luis de Carvajal and its restoration to Mexico.
